Today, we’re sharing some of the most creative marketing campaigns we’ve come across that really helped companies stand out from the competition. While some of these ideas were definitely riskier than others, they all seemed to work in driving awareness and sales. As business owners ourselves, we’re always on the lookout for unique ways to promote our brands that people will actually remember.
Let’s kick things off with Adidas’ liquid billboard. Can you even imagine setting up a billboard sized swimming pool on the beach and inviting women to dive right in? The cameras inside filmed them swimming and projected the live feed both onsite and online. What a creative way to get people interacting with your brand in a super memorable way. And talk about free promotion – I’m sure those swimmers told all their friends about the cool experience!
Barbie got in on the interactive fun too when their movie launched. Do you remember using the Barbie AI filters on social media? Being able to see yourself transformed into a living doll was so much childhood pretend fun. And the best part for Mattel was how hugely those Barbie selfies spread naturally across platforms. Who didn’t want to look like a Barbie, even if just virtually?
Red Bull definitely took marketing to new heights with their record breaking skydive stunt. Over 24 miles above the earth strapped to a tiny capsule – just thinking about it makes my palms sweat! But streaming the entire event online helped them break viewership records. Extreme sponsors extreme products I guess. Still can’t believe they pulled it off safely.
Coca Cola’s happiness machine was such a creative way to bring joy. Who didn’t love the surprise treats dispensing from classic vending machines on college campuses? And of course, the viral videos gave them huge free promotion too. Speaking of experiences, the M&M flavor rooms were a total sensory delight. With decor, smells and drinks tailored to each candy flavor, it’s no wonder everyone wanted pictures in those unique photo booths.
IKEA sleeping over took accommodation next level by hosting an overnight slumber party event in their store. Who doesn’t love fantasizing about literally living in that furniture wonderland? The social posts from happy campers were priceless free ads. Getting recognized for being so fun and amenable to customer desires is brand building gold.
